Happy New Year 2012

I had a great Christmas with my family, especially the grandchildren. They are so entertaining, especially my teenage grandson when he jokes, does the samba or tango with their dog Sugar, including spins, shakes, and dips. Once he puts her down, she stumble-runs to me for sanctuary. It was wonderful to hear M-o-ove!, St-o-op! Don’t touch me! Stop looking at me!, and my all-time favorite “I had it first!” From me it was “Hey! You sit there, and you, sit over there.” It’s not that way with them all the time, I am just sharing the joy I have about what we sometimes take for granted. I look up to heaven and say “Hallelujah Lord, Thank you Jesus for blessing me with beautiful grandchildren. I love them so much and I love you too.”

We are getting closer to celebrating the New Year. It will be 2012 and 12 is the number of governing authority--God's authority. I believe that instead of all the madness, chaos and bad news we have been experiencing, seeing and hearing about, God's authority will take over. I expect His power and blessings to be revealed through His people in every facet of our being: physical, mental, social, emotional, financial and spiritual.

I know the heathen and the devil is not going to like it, but according to the scriptures they will rage. But their destiny has been pre-determined. Although the Book of Revelations frightens a lot of people, including some in the Body of Christ, it also tells us to "rejoice because our redemption draweth nigh." I look forward to the events and promises expressed in the Book of Joel, helping me retain expectations of Restoration, Refreshing, Rejeuvenation, and the coming Renewal to the world and especially for those of us who are holding on to God's love, grace, goodness and faithfulness.

So bless you and rejoice in the New Year to come. I believe it will be an eventful year of goodness for all of us who love God.

The Beauty of Suffering

I was asked why we have to suffer. I hesitated for most of the day before offering what I consider a tidbit of an answer. I didn’t want to say anything that would make my friend feel worse, or God-forbid, guilty. I have suffered many times throughout my life. I know suffering is the fruit of a myriad of seeds that have been sown. Seeds of our choices, decisions others have made that affect us…the reasons are endless.

But I know that when joy and blessing seems afar off, so far that you can’t even fathom that it will ever exist for you, the consolation is that God is watching and He does care. I remember wondering why He would allow me to suffer so much and for so long. But in retrospect I find that He was positioning me on the potter’s wheel. I needed Him to make me over because I was a broken mess. I had to patiently endure the squeezing and reshaping, and when I thought I was done, I met the fiery furnace.

The whole process of suffering seemed so callous and uncaring of God because it was painful for me. But He made me a vessel anxious to encourage others who are in the beginning phase or going through the process akin to mine. It is possible to float when you’re head under inhaling an ocean of water. You can live when you’re in the midst of the flames.

We suffer so much, but the scriptures call it a light affliction. What appears endless, the scriptures say that it is but for a moment. It doesn't make natural sense but the spiritual sense is that it will create for us a far more exceeding, and eternal weight of Glory. How excellent it is to look like, talk like, be like someone else—the One who is regal—Jesus Christ. As we endure the fellowship of His suffering, we come out likened to pure gold because we hid ourselves in Christ Jesus during the process with prayer and praise.

We can rest in God, trust in, and love God enough to allow Him to take us on what appears to be a perilous journey. That journey with Him will always reveal self to self, but it also yields a greater dimension of anointing. Count it wonderful to toss all that we are into God's love and care, in faith that He will sustain us while being transformed into the image and likeness of Christ.

2Corinthians 4:17--For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

Excerpt from the new title "Christine's Short-Shorts"

The Bark and Breath of the Enemy

All my life I have retained a vivid recollection of times and events throughout my childhood. As age creeps upon me, I have started to make lists or notes to myself about things I don’t want to forget. Sometimes I will walk into a room then try to figure out why I did so. I joke with friends by saying that my senior moments are turning into senior episodes. Despite the episodes, the portion of my brain that recorded my childhood is functioning quite well. I can even recall conversations, sounds, odors, colors, and temperatures of uneventful moments like they happened a few hours ago. I would say yesterday, but some of yesterday has already erased itself. Psych! I’m kidding about that one.

Anyway, as I recount for this writing, I was in the second grade at Green Elementary School in Knoxville, Tennessee. The only thing I didn’t enjoy about the second grade was walking home from school. Excluding the days when schools were closed due to inclimate weather, I was escorted in the mornings by my mother or Aunt Bessie, and I walked home with my neighbor friend.

There was a green-eyed mutt about the size of a golden retriever that lived about 2 blocks from my house and he would chase me every single day. He absolutely terrified me. On the first day of school my mother and I walked on the side of the street where the dog lived. The yard to its house had a fence, but there was no gate to the driveway. Therefore the dog was able to come in and out of its yard at will. He was lying close to the fence and didn’t move as he watched us pass by.

After school, my friend and I like most of the children, walked on the other side of the street. At the intersection before the house where the dog lived, I saw him standing on the sidewalk. When we got close to its house, the dog started crossing the street. When he ran up to me and started growling and barking, I screamed and ran. As he chased me, I could feel his breath on the back of my calves. There was a light at the intersection. It was red, but I didn’t even know it because I was so afraid and running for my life.

I thank God for sparing me because all I heard was the sound of brakes from the cars travelling in both directions trying to avoid hitting me. I saw nothing but the curb on the other side of the street and I was running for it. After I made it, I didn’t stop running until I got to the porch of my home. I was screaming, crying and banging on the front door. One of the drivers had parked and was on our porch by the time my mother opened the door. He told her that I ran through the intersection and was nearly killed. I was so shakened, that whatever else he said was a complete blur. That was OK because some of it was not too nice and it upset my mother. After he left, she calmed me down and I was able to tell her about the dog chasing me. She reassured me that the dog did it only because I ran when he barked. “Let him bark, but don’t run,” was her advice.
The next morning as she walked me to school, the dog was lying in his spot by the fence. He watched us but didn’t rise up or bark. “See, he’s not going to do anything to you,” she said. “Just remember, let him bark, but don’t run.” I felt relieved that the dog appeared totally harmless.

On the way home, at the corner, I saw the dog standing in front of its house. As my friend and I got near, it was a repeat of the day before. He barked and I ran. But when I got to the corner of the intersection he stopped chasing and went back home. I was shaking and crying but I had enough presence of mind not to run through that intersection again. I caught my breath and waited for my friend so she could walk the rest of the way home with me. This time, I didn’t say anything to my mother about the dog. I figured since he chased me just to the corner, that he might not do it again. I was wrong. Everyday, the dog would look at me on the way to school but after school, he would bark and chase me.

The routine between me and that dog became a treat for the other kids. We never failed to give them the pleasure of a good laugh. They joked and teased me at school, but I didn’t care. Each day I was determined to be brave and not run, but the bark and hot breath of that dog was always the giant faith eraser. The only consolation I held on to was that he would only chase me to the corner then turn around and go back home. He didn’t bother any of the other children and I was his exclusive chase for the whole school year.

During the month of May, our school observed a celebration called May Day. According to Wilkipedia it is described as follows: May Day was taken up in America as a socialist movement celebrating workers’ rights, a tradition that remains strong in Europe. All told, modern May Day celebrations today have evolved into a hodgepodge of traditions including parties, sing-alongs, Old World maypole dancing, parades and workers’ demonstrations, along with general protests against Big Business on the streets of major capitals worldwide.

I was one of the students selected for the wrapping of the Maypole during the May Day school-ground festivities. My mother dressed me in a new pink dress complete with starched underslips to make it stand out, ruffled socks and ribboned hair. I was all dolled up and anticipated the fun the day would bring. Then I got a wonderful surprise during the festivities. My father had accompanied my mother to see me wrap the Maypole. She took photographs of me with her little Kodak Brownie camera. (I’m not telling you what year that was either). I was so happy to see his face in the crowd of other parents and family members. When I got the chance to talk to him, he said my mother had to leave but he was going to wait and walk me home from school.

My father was a wonderful man. He worked an early shift for Alcoa Aluminum and usually got home around 2:00 p.m. During the spring and summer months, he liked to take long walks in the evening. My greatest joy was accompanying him when he took the short walks. When we were a few houses away from ours, I got foot rides. He would let me stand on his feet as he held my hands and walked the rest of the way home. The next best thing was when he pushed me on the swing so I could go high in the air. It felt as though he was helping me leap into the clouds.

When I met my father when school was dismissed, my mind was on getting a foot ride. It was also the first time he walked me home from school. I was estatic until we got to the dreaded corner. I had forgotten about the source of my terror until then. I tightened the grip I had on my father’s fingers. When he looked down at me, I guess he could tell by my expression that something was wrong. And he asked “What’s the matter?” By this time, the dog saw us and was starting to cross the street. “The dog Daddy. That dog is going to chase me because he chases me everyday,” I replied. “No, he’s not going to chase you,” he said. I started trembling and tried not to cry but the tears fell like rain. I moved closer and held onto the leg of his pants with both hands.

The dog was in the middle of the street and started to growl as he looked at me. I was ready to run but my father tightened his grip on my shoulder then yelled at the dog in a loud voice, “Get back over there!” The dog stopped in his tracks and tucked his tail between his legs. When my father shouted again, “Go,” he ran to the doghouse in his yard.

I had never heard my father raise his voice before. He was a soft-spoken man of a few words, and sometimes you had to strain to hear him. He was over 6 feet tall, muscular and strong, so I never knew his quietness to be misinterpreted as a weakness by anyone. When I saw what happened with the dog, all of the anxiety and fear left me. I was so glad that I got a reprieve from being chased that day. And the other children didn’t get the chance to laugh at me.

The next day was another story. Since my father was not with me, I was prepared to run. As my friend and I got to the corner, the dog did his usual thing. We neared the middle of the block, but this time for some reason I wouldn’t look at him. I thought about my father protecting me the day before and kept walking. He didn’t growl or bark as he stood in the middle of the street. After we passed him, my friend looked back then whispered to me, “He’s going back to his yard.” I was so happy and afraid at the same time that I could have wet on myself. Then for the next two weeks that were left of the school term, I was able to walk, not run to the corner of my block. Never again was I chased by the green-eyed mutt with the terrifying bark and hot breath.

My father passed away the following year in April. When I think about all the wonderful times I had with him, his loving care and gentleness, I am also reminded of how his voice and his presence eradicated a frightening situation in my life. In fact, he never asked me anything about the dog. I guess he had confidence it wouldn’t bother me again.
The dog had watched me and knew I was afraid of him. He had access and opportunity to chase me, and if he wanted to bite me, he could have, but he didn’t. Maybe the dog thought that chasing was my way of playing with him. Who knows what and how dogs think. I just know he wasn’t fun. When my father told the dog “get back over there,” he was commanding him to get back where he belongs. And I was liberated from fearful encounters with it.

In the introduction to my first book “Pray What God Says” I relate how Aunt Bessie told me that my father was in heaven with God. Then she said God would be like a father to watch over and care for me. And He has demonstrated that He has been and is continuing to doing so. The scriptures say we have protection from the enemy, satan. He has already been cut off, limited, judged and condemned by God.

Like that dog, satan intimidates, pursues, threatens and causes us to fear for our spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental well-being. When things go wrong with our life, health, finances, and relationships, we feel discouraged, anxious and think he has complete control of our circumstances. But satan is a thief, liar, deceiver and murderer. He comes to steal, kill and destroy anything and anyone he can get access to. But the blood of Jesus was shed to deliver us from all the work, plots and plans of the enemy.

When we decree and declare the Word of God—the scriptures—over our situations, we are reminding satan of where he belongs. We also remind ourselves about the nature and virtue of God, our identity and liberty in Him. There is continuous and unfailing access we have to Him and His covenant promises.

Isaiah 41:10-14 (New Living Translation)—Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. See, all your angry enemies lie there, confused and humiliated. Anyone who opposes you will die and come to nothing. You will look in vain for those who tried to conquer you. Those who attack you will come to nothing. For I hold you by your right hand— I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid, people of Israel, for I will help you. I am the LORD, your Redeemer. I am the Holy One of Israel.’

As long as we have the Word of God—His scriptures—and His holy presence, we never have to fear the bark and breath of the enemy.

Disappointment

When people disappoint us it is painful but it is also a way for God to show us that He alone is God. Through disappointments we realize people are people just like us--we have our strengths and we have weaknesses. We learn that we can’t do everything and we can’t be everything to everybody.

Disappointment comes when we have an unrealistic expectation of another person. Based on what people say or do, we unwittingly assume they will always be reliable, always available, always resourceful, always, always, always. But, at the weakest or most vulnerable point in our life, we might experience the reality of disappointment. This leads to feelings of rejection, betrayal or abandonment that causes hurt, pain and disappointment. God expects us to expect Him to be God. He doesn’t want us to expect people to be everything His word says that He is. I think what people do to us is a test to see if we bear or yield the fruit of the Spirit.

If you are disappointed, I know exactly how you feel because I have been abused, rejected, betrayed and abandoned. I have had to go through trials and tribulations while on the path to getting healed from the last trial and tribulation. Of all the friends, associates and acquaintances in my life, none of them can compete with what God has done for me. He has delivered and healed me of so many things, so many times. Most of the time, I had no one to talk to, confide in, or get help from. Because of that, I sought God who was the only one who had answers. I could not find my joy in people, places or things. Once in a while someone would pray for me if I asked. But I learned to cry out to God in my distresses. At times it seemed like it took Him forever, but it didn’t when He answered my prayers and healed me from depression and agoraphobia. It is so wonderful that the side-effect of His healing anointing is more love for Him.

That is why I thank Him passionately everyday. I try to tell everyone I know to do the same because He is an unfailing Lord and God.  That doesn’t mean I don’t have troubles. Yes, I do even now. But I know the one in whom I live, move and have my very being. I can trust, rely on, call upon and be heard from the Lord my God. He makes me over each and everyday because I want to let Him. He helps me love those that He uses to make be a better and more anointed person so I can be His instrument of help to others.

Don’t hate the person(s) who disappointed you. Sometimes God will use people to see if you will turn and cast your cares on Him. I have friends who I call friends because that is what I am or try to be to them. We may have gone through many things together, yet some I can not confide in. I am a sounding board for most of them, yet the very same don’t care to hear about my pain, joy, disappointments or achievements. But that’s OK because we have to ask God to show us the purpose for each and every person we engage with. He will allow us to see and experience the strengths, weaknesses, capabilities and limitations of each one. We are not to despise them for what they are not. Just rejoice over what they bring to the table to bless, nurture, test and even try us. Remember, most people test the fruit of the Spirit in us. How is your love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance?

God observes how we respond to every relationship. But most importantly, He wants to be everything we want and need. His word says that He opens His hand to satisfy every living creature. We are His precious creation, so He will not fail nor cause us to lack any good and beneficial thing. Spend time praising or learning how to praise the Lord. When you do so, your mind can’t think negative thoughts and rejoice at the same time.

If you feel disappointed or discouraged, don’t feel bad because you ask for help. And don’t let the devil make you upset about a person who is just being who they are--limited. One thing is for sure, they are not God. They didn’t lie if they said they can’t fix you or your problems. Praise the Lord because their fix might send you to hell. No one knows how to fix you and your circumstances like God can. If you have been seeking the Lord as your helper, you may not realize it, but you are on the pathway of healing and deliverance. Nobody’s mad but the devil. How about that? Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!!

Affirmation for Self-Esteem

Proverbs 14:26 -- In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Lord you are my helper and I will not be fearful of what man shall do to me. I keep my faith and confidence in you, so my soul can rest in your salvation. In quietness and confidence is my strength. I am born of God so by faith I overcome the cares of this world. If I ask you anything according to your will, I am confident that you hear me and will help me. I worship you in the spirit and rejoice in Christ Jesus, so I put no confidence in flesh. Lord you are my confidence and you keep my foot from being taken. My heart is circumcised and I stand in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. I am as bold as a lion and do not run like the wicked when no man pursues him. Your Holy Spirit helps my infirmities when I don't know how to pray as I ought to. Your Spirit makes intercession for me with groanings which can not be uttered. God you are for me, so who can be against me? I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me.

Deliverance from Anxiety & Fear

Isaiah 32:18 -- And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;
1John 4:18 -- There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Father, thank you for your prosperity and peace toward me, to my household and all that I have. Through the knowledge of you and of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour, your grace and peace is greatly multiplied. I keep my face before you, abiding in your presence to become spotless, blameless and strengthened by your might. When I hear and obey your commandments, then I will have your peace as a river and your righteousness as the waves of the sea. When you give peace in the land, I can lie down and nothing can make me afraid. You remove evil and destruction from my dwelling place.

I bask in your presence so I can have your promise of peace which surpasses all understanding. It guards my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. I keep my heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. You give long life and peace to those who do not forget your law and whose heart keeps your commandments. I can lie down in peace and sleep because you are the Lord who makes me dwell in safety. In righteousness I am established and far from oppression. I do not fear and terror does not come near me. In every battle against me, you are the deliverer of my soul. I have great peace and nothing offends me. Peace and prosperity is within the walls of my household.

To Encourage the Discouraged

God has a wonderful plan and purpose for His sons and daughters. So many times, we are challenged by pits, stumbling blocks, and nets designed to hinder our destiny. But as long as we acknowledge that there is an Almighty God who cares about the very hairs on our heads, then we know He can see all of the mess around us. We are tried in our faith ever so much, but when we say yes to Him in our hearts, He is the great deliverer. He even delivers us from our own destruction--the things we do to ourselves. That is because He is so full of grace, mercy, love and compassion.

God nourishes until we are full and made fat. Oh, how wonderful when He has fed us from His holy table the sweet and agreeable promises of His word. He never leaves nor forsake us. He opens His hand to satisfy every living creature, which includes us, His most precious creation. He has made us a little lower than the angels who abide in His presence to praise Him eternally. All He ask of us is to love Him, and when we do, we are able to trust Him, obey Him and cast our cares upon Him. We can hold fast to the confidence that we gain from Him, so we can rest in Him.

To know the beauty of His presence in a deeper and greater dimension is available to us. He told John, who was in the spirit on the Lord's day (he was nearly in heaven), He said to come up hither. So now we know that no matter how high we get into His presence, there is ever so much more that we can reach for and move into. We can't allow the devil to deceive us into thinking he has captivated our physical, emotional and spiritual being. Our God has a manna that is not made with hands but comes from His excellent glory. It pours down upon us to satisfy our soul and spirit. And when it comes from His holy place, it leaves the residue of His exceeding joy and gladness. He says that if we lack joy and gladness, He will anoint us with it.

We must say what God says is true about us, not what the devil tries to make us say and believe. Many times we are the cause of missing out on the good things when we resign to refusing or accepting those good things. We are to desire the things that are good, beautiful, wonderful, satisfying, fulfilling, nurturing, cleansing, purifying, hopeful, peaceful and loving. I can't fix you, I can only point you to the One who can. He is God,  the only one who can do it so marvellously. His work was already finished on the cross of Jesus Christ. The blood was already shed for our deliverance. Jesus does not have to be recrucified for us to be well. We just have to let God have His way by reminding ourselves with the scriptures and opening our mouth to thank Him out loud (so the devil can hear it). If it is hard for you to praise God, read Psalms 23, Psalms 34 and Psalms 91 aloud. It can give you a jumpstart.

I lift up utterances to my Lord and Father and ask Him to wipe away every tear that falls from your eyes. They are infused with the pain, brokenness, fear, and anxiety that has been purged from your soul and spirit. I ask Him to cover your heart with His love and peace. He will pull you close to His bosom so you can rest in His arms to hear His heartbeat. The sound will cause you to know His love and care.

Affirmation for Guidance

Psalm 32:8 -- I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Father when I call unto you, you are faithful to answer and shew me great and mighty things beyond my knowledge. Thank you for the inheritance of purpose and working all things after the counsel of your will in my life. By your mercy, redemption and strength you lead and guide me into a place of holiness. Guide me continually, satisfy my soul in the dry places, make my bones fat and I shall be like a watered garden and a spring of waters that never fail. Your inspiration to my spirit gives me understanding. Thank you for your Spirit that has come to guide me into all truth. He does not speak of himself but whatsoever I hear comes from your throne room and shows me the things to come. You give me light when I am in darkness or in the shadow of death. Your Spirit always guides me in the way of peace. Give me wisdom to train my mouth what to say and learning to my lips. I commit my works to you Lord so that my thoughts are established. Even when my heart leans towards my own way I chose to allow you to direct my steps.

My house is built through wisdom, established by understanding and knowledge fills my rooms with precious and pleasant riches. Show me the path of life. In your presence is the fullness of joy and at your right hand are pleasures evermore. I bless you Lord for giving me counsel and instruction in the night seasons of my life. Answers for Any Test

No one is exempt from the testings of life. We are tested daily through relationships, health, finances, career...the list goes on and on. No matter what type of test or degree of its intensity, there are answers and solutions. The Word of God, the scriptures, address every conceivable physical, mental and spiritual challenge. Even those of us who consider ourselves devotees to the scriptures can, many times, find ourselves distracted or discouraged when confronted with situations that appear unsurmountable. But we can take comfort in knowing that any test can be taken with an open book. We never have to face challenges blindly when the answers and solutions can be found by searching, reviewing or rehearsing what God has said to us.

Through the scriptures, He has told us who He is, what He does for us, what He has given to us, and how we can receive from Him. The Word of God is the ready answer for every test, every trial, ever situation, every circumstance that life dishes out to us. Everytime you open the Book, it is full of eternal treasures, nuggets for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, strength, comfort and peace. If you have never read the Bible, try it. I believe you will like and begin to love it. If you read the Bible, do so more often. If you read it often, then do so like a treasure hunter. You won't be disappointed.

Those on the Mission Fields

2Corinthians 2:14 -- Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ,
and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Lord we pray for those on the mission field. Thank you for the men and women who go to the crowds who listen intently, eager to hear the gospel and see the miraculous signs. By the power of the Holy Spirit evil spirits are cast out of their victims, that the paralyzed or lame are healed and shouts of great joy can be heard in the cities. When the people accept the message of God, use your missionaries to pray for the new believers to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. And as soon as they lay hands on the believers they receive. For the Lord is the Spirit and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Send missionaries who have the Spirit to give wise advice or message of special knowledge. Lord you are faithful to protect those who are pressed on every side by challenges, but they are not crushed. If perplexed they are not driven to despair. Your sufficient grace is all they need. Your power works best in weakness, so let them boast that their weakness is the opportunity for the power of Christ to work through them.

Your missionaries are strong and courageous and their work for you is rewarded. You are faithful to strengthen and guard them from the evil one, his plans, plots, schemes, pits and snares. Conceal them when troubles come and hide them in your sanctuary. Place your servants out of reach on a high rock. Send your power to them in the fields of the earth and they shall see large numbers of people believe and turn to you Lord. They shall declare that the Sovereign Lord is my strength. You make them surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. Your presence lets them know not to be afraid because you are with them. They have no need to be discouraged because you are their God. Strengthen, help them and hold them up with your victorious right hand. There is no weapon formed that can succeed against your servants. They silence every voice of false accusation because they enjoy these benefits as servants of the Lord, and their vindication comes from you because you have spoken it.

Send your word through the missionaries because it always produce fruit, accomplishing all you want it to. Your word prospers everywhere you send it. The people of God will live in joy and peace. Even the mountains and hills will burst into song and the trees of the field will clap their hands. Bless the men and women who go into all the world to preach the Good News to everyone. What your workers forbid on earth is forbidden in heaven and what they permit on earth is permitted in heaven. Justice is given to the oppressed and food to the hungry and the Lord frees the prisoners. Every missionary, man and woman, need only ask and you will give them the nations as their inheritance and the whole earth as a possession.

Enduring Transition

Ecclesiastes 3:1 -- To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven

Lord you change the times and seasons, you remove kings and set up kings. You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who know understanding. During this time of waiting and transition in my life, I will not be weary in well doing. For in due season I shall reap if I do not faint. I wait upon you Lord because you renew my strength. As I mount up with wings as eagles, I will run and not be weary, and I continue to move forward and not give up. If delays to change is due to sin, I confess them now and you are faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

As I wait, I am faithful to share your word with others, being instant in and out of season. Help me to be faithful and wise over the portions you place in my life. I have joy knowing that you are faithful to give rain, both the former and latter, in your time and season. And you have an appointed time for my weeks of harvest. As long as I am like a tree planted by rivers of water, I will bring forth fruit in my season. I am rooted and grounded in your word which is the river of living waters. So my leaf will not wither and whatsoever I do will prosper. And I will see the manifestation of increase and fruitfulness in my life.

Affliction

We experience reality--the wonderful and the critical. Reality at times makes us needy, desperate, anxious, beggars who look for people and things to satisfy, approve or validate us. Sometimes out of desperation, kingdom people fail to speak our kingdom language to resolve the negative perception or reality of situations and circumstances. A major weapon the enemy uses against the people of God is affliction.

Affliction--Affliction refers to a condition or cause of suffering. --Definition source: Wilkipedia

Synonyms for the word affliction include: adversity, ruin, harm, hurt, desolation, torture, torment, mishap, miscarriage, casualty, accident, reversal, disaster, tragedy, calamity, catastrophe. These synonyms are the cause of affliction.

Suffering, grief, sorrow, sadness, anguish, anxiety, heartache, heartbreak, misery, agony, distress, wretchedness. These synonyms are the emotional results of affliction.

Hardship, trouble, trial, tribulation, stress, burden, weight. And these synonyms are the effects of affliction.

When you look at the preceding list, which is not exhaustive, I am quite sure you or someone you know has experienced some, maybe all of those synonyms. When you don’t know or you neglect to use your kingdom language, then satan takes advantage of your perception of the situation or affliction. When he controls your perception, then your choices, words and actions come into alignment or agreement with who he wants to be in your life. He is a liar, thief, murderer and destroyer. John 10:10-- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Then satan starts to influence you into thinking, believing, saying and doing what he says you are although he has already been defeated. Revelations 12:10-- And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

And he attempts to keep you bound and illegally held captive to his devices. Revelation 13:10-- He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Access to kingdom promises, power and deliverance is through speaking our kingdom language, the Word of God. We speak our kingdom language by utilizing the scriptures in prayers of thanksgiving, praise, worship, supplications and intercession. We also have access to the same benefits through affirmations.

Connect to God

Often I have heard people refer to God as a “crutch” and they use the word in a negative connotation. Sometimes it is to make light of the believer’s faith, trust and reliance on God, or give the impression that God relishes a following of zombie-like, dysfunctional people incapable of a significant life. Those who intend to mock us with usage of the word “crutch” fail to understand the utility and functionality of the crutch.

Crutches are mobility aids used to counter a mobility impairment or an injury that limits walking ability. --Definition source: Wilkipedia

When you have been afflicted and decide to change your posture and connect to God, He should be welcomed as a crutch. His promises are your support and strength to compensate for every weakness. He is a crutch to facilitate your physical and spiritual healing. He comes alongside you for natural and spiritual development, change, growth, and maturity. God is your crutch for any situation.

Parent's Affirmations for Their Children

CHILDREN
Proverbs 22:6 -- Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Father I believe on the Lord Jesus Christ therefore my household is saved. I teach your law, precepts and commandments to my children, in our home, when we walk by the way, when we lie down and when we arise. All those that bless us, are blessed, all who curse us are cursed because we are of your household and fellow citizens with the saints. Our family receives wisdom, get understanding and we do not forget or decline from your word of truth. Our children obey instructions and are diligent to get understanding. We do not forsake your law and we train our children in the way they should go so when they are old they will not depart from it. Lord we rest in your promise that all of our children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be their peace.

Father, your word says that if any lack wisdom, let him ask of you and you will give wisdom liberally and not upbraid. You have given our children the ears to hear a word saying this is the way, walk ye in it, but give them the spirit of obedience to your voice that will lead them in righteous paths. Give them wisdom so knowledge and understanding will pour out of their mouth. As they seek your truth, they will have understanding of all things. Instruct and teach them by your spirit in the way in which they shall go. Guide them with your eye as they desire truth to rule the hidden places of their heart.

Our children are a crown and glory and as we walk in the integrity of the Lord, our children will be blessed after us. Children are a heritage of the Lord and they shall be known by the next generation and declared to their children. The heavens are yours Lord, but you have given the earth to our children for a possession. Thank you that we shall see our children's children and peace upon Israel.

Affirmations for: Commitment

COMMITMENT
Luke 9:23 -- And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me

Lord by the enabling power of your Holy Spirit, I keep my body under subjection for a life that is holy and pleasing before you. I can preach to others with a lifestyle of holiness and righteousness. I am not ashamed of you because I know in whom I believe, and I am fully persuaded that you are able to sustain what I have committed to you. Perform your will in my life. I am not afraid to die to my flesh, so I will not lose my soul to damnation and be counted as a castaway in your sight. Strengthen me to endure hatred, persecution, and afflictions to the end so that I might be saved. Your righteousness establishes me, so when I ask, your kingdom blessings are revealed. When I seek, I find and when I knock, access to your kingdom is given to me.

Affirmations for: Financial Blessing

FINANCIAL BLESSING
Matthew 6:33 -- But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Exodus 23:25 -- And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Father, when I honor you by giving of my substance, you cause me to prosper and everything that pertains to me will not fail. As I purpose to give cheerfully, not grudgingly or of necessity, you demonstrate your love toward me. By your divine power you have given me all things that pertain to life and godliness, and have called me to your glory and virtue. You are the God who desires that I prosper and be in health even as my soul prospers. I obey your law, precepts and commandments, and I remember that it is you who gives me power to obtain wealth. So your covenant is established in my life. You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I may ask or think according to the power of your Holy Spirit that works in me. I know that whatever I sow, I shall reap. I will not be weary in well doing, I will not faint so that I may reap in due season. I am willing and obedient to obey your truth to eat the good of the land. All that I ask for and receive is not motivated by lust.

Your word will not depart from my mouth. I meditate day and night in your law to do according to all that is written. Your word makes my way prosperous and I am successful in every endeavor. You are pleased to give me the kingdom and trust me with true riches when I have been faithful over the small thing. When I give generously, I reap good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over and I receive favor from others. The measure that I give is measured back to me. Lord I honor you and will not rob you of the first fruit of my increase. When I bring all my tithes into your storehouse so that there is meat in your house, you freely open the windows of heaven. My blessings are abundantly poured out until there is not enough room to receive it all. Your blessings make me rich and adds no sorrow with it. Thank you for blessings that allow me to leave an inheritance for my children's children. I pray that you regard me as good and just so that the wealth of the wicked will be laid up for me. My house is built by wisdom, it is established by understanding and all the rooms are filled with precious and pleasant riches because of knowledge.

As I seek you daily, I do not lack nor am I found wanting of any good thing. I shout for joy and I am glad to favor your righteous cause. Continually I say, let the Lord be magnified in my life because you take pleasure in causing your servant to prosper. When I show favor to others, or lend to them, I guide my affairs with discretion. As I keep myself aligned to the path of righteousness, you do not forsake me nor does my seed beg for anything. I give you thanksgiving for sustaining me through the fire and through floods and bringing me out into a wealthy place in you. Blessed be the Lord my God and my salvation, who daily loads me down with benefits. Pour water upon me when I am thirsty and floods upon my ground when it is dry. Pour out your spirit and blessings upon my offspring.

You are my sun and shield, giving grace and glory, and withholding nothing from me as long as I walk uprightly before you. I am counted as blessed because I fear you Lord and take delight in your commandments. My seed are mighty and blessed upon the earth. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed me with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Thank you for blessing and keeping me. Your face shines upon me and you are gracious to me. My strength is in you and your favor compasses me about like a shield. Your wealth and riches are in my house and your imputed righteousness endures forever.

Affirmations for Comfort

COMFORT
John 14:26 -- But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. Thank you for comforting me in all my tribulations. I am able to give what I have received Lord, so I show compassion, give comfort and courtesy to others who are in any trouble. I dwell in your perfection, comfort, love and peace, and have been redeemed by your grace. You heal me, lead me and restore comfort to me and those who lament with me. When my soul is heavy, you comfort me in my affliction and strengthen me through your word that quickens my spirit. I retain your word in my heart so I will not stray from your paths. Your merciful kindness is my comfort. Your judgments, laws and precepts are my help. When my supplications come before you, deliver me according to your word and my soul shall live and praise you continually.

Affirmations for: Perseverance & Patience

PERSEVERANCE & PATIENCE
James 1:4 -- But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

God of grace, you have called me into your eternal glory by Christ Jesus. When I have endured any suffering for a season, you are the one who perfects, establishes, strengthen and settles me. Therefore I endure all things to obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. I do not strive but I am gentle to all men, able to teach and walk in patience. My spirit is patient rather than proud because patience is necessary to do your will and receive your precious promises. I willingly lay aside every weight of burden and sin that would try to hinder and block your will for my life. I run with faith, patience and endurance to inherit the purpose, motives and intentions you have destined for me. When I am tried and endure temptation I am blessed and receive the crown of life that you promised to those who love you. When my faith is tried I reap patience. And it is established in my heart and possess my soul. Out of the honesty and goodness of my heart, I have received your word. I keep it and bring forth fruit with patience, so I am called good ground. You know my works, my labor and my patience. I rejoice in hope, patient in tribulation and pray unceasingly. I wait patiently for the things that I hope for that have not manifested. Grant me your consolation and the ability to be sober, temperate, sound in faith, in charity and patience.

Affirmations Regarding: Physical and Emotional Abuse

PHYSICAL ABUSE
John 10:10 -- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly

EMOTIONAL ABUSE
Isaiah 35:10 -- And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Father my life is hid in Christ, so I am a new creature. The old things have passed away and all things are new in my life. The truth of your word has set me free because I have set my heart to learn, know, believe, confess and receive your truth. Those who don't know that I am your child, do not know you. Because I belong to you, when you come again, I will be like you and see you as you are. You have seen my infirmity in its days, months and even years. It caused me to be bowed, confined, unfocused and unable to lift myself up. But you saw me and spoke to my heart. Now I am loosed from my weakness and captivity. The root, seed and vessel of the enemy that had me bound has been removed. Those who were my enemy, I forgive and will love them. Those who cursed me, I will bless. Those who despitefully used and persecuted me, I will pray that they be saved and redeemed by your hand.

You have begun a good work in me and I believe, confess in confidence that you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. I forget those things which are behind and press for the things you have purposed, planned and set before me. My old life is buried by baptism into the death of Christ. I have been raised up with Him by your glory Father and I will walk in newness of life. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. I make allowance for other's faults, and forgive anyone who offended, wounded or abused me. Lord you forgave me, so I forgive others. I am clothed with love, which binds me with others in perfect harmony.

Lord you bore the griefs of my spirit, and carried my sorrows. I have been forsaken and refused. But you are my deliverer. You brought me your good news and healed my broken heart. I am liberated from every captivity, pit, prison and affliction of the mind, soul and spirit. Your comfort replaced my mourning. I received beauty for ashes and you anointed me with unspeakable joy. I am clothed with a garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness. You have planted me firmly in your love, grace and mercy and I am a tree of righteousness. The yoke and burden has been lifted from my shoulder and the rod of oppression is broken. You have delivered me out of the hand of the enemy, out of all who have oppressed me and drove them back to the abyss. I am not fearful of those who have hurt, wounded or oppressed me. Everything that has been covered shall be revealed and everything hid will be known.

I have no fear of those who try to kill the body. But rather my fear is only of You Lord, who is the only one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Lord you are a refuge for the oppressed and in times of trouble. You have led me to safety so I no longer fear and the sea has overwhelmed my enemies. I keep your law and commandments because you have delivered me from the oppression of man. But even if I have suffered for doing what is right, You will reward me for it. So I do not worry nor am I afraid of threats or bitter words. Instead, I worship Christ as Lord of my life. And if someone asks about my hope, I am always ready to explain it.

Lord you have wiped all tears from my eyes. There is no more death to my spirit, no sorrow or crying in my soul. I have no more pain in my mind, soul, body and spirit because the former things are passed away. In my poverty and neediness I have praised your name. Your peace rules in my heart. As a member of one body, the church, I am called to live in peace. Always thankful, the message about Christ in all its richness, fills my life. By your spirit I am able to teach and counsel others with all the wisdom you give me. I sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to you Lord with a thankful heart. Whatever I do or say, I do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to you my God and Father. Lord you have set me free and I am free indeed.

Affirmations for: Resisting Satan's Lies

RESISTING SATAN'S LIES
1Corinthians 6:20 -- For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Father, I set my affection on the things above and I resist the lies of satan that would keep me bound mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually captivated to the cares of this earth. Although I walk in the flesh I do not warfare in the flesh. My weapons are not carnal but mighty through the power of God, that is able to pull down every stronghold. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that enables me to cast down every imagination or high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge that I have read, heard and learned of you Lord. My thoughts are held captive only to the obedience of Jesus Christ. I have the mind of Christ which enables me to gird up the loins of my mind. I am sober and have obtained grace through the revelation of Jesus Christ so I can bear all things, believe all things, hope all things and endure all things. Your love rules in my heart therefore my actions are not unseemly. I am not lifted up in pride nor easily provoked to do evil. I think on the things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report. If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, I think on those things. The God of peace is with me. Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me. I bless the holy name of Jesus forever.

Affirmations for: Career Success, Success & Stewardship

Career Success
1Titus 5:8 -- But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Service & Stewardship
Colossians 3:22 -- Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

Lord when I hope in all my labor, I am a partaker of hope. When I work, it is fruitful because I commit the work of my hands to you. I work to provide for my household and you cause me to be blessed and lack nothing that is needful for my life and peace. When my work is excessive and causes me to fret or become tired, you give me rest and peace. It is not by might, nor by my own power, but it is by your Spirit that I succeed in what is set before me. Each day I am subject and faithful to fulfilling the requirements of my employment, even if my employer is not good or gentle toward me. I honor management, fellow employees and my place of work because I represent the kingdom of God as an ambassador. My actions never blaspheme the word of truth nor the name of God. Whatever I do is genuine, sincere and not with eye service as a man-pleaser. My inheritance is a reward as the servant of Christ, doing the will of God from my heart. My service is to you Lord and not to men. The good things that I do, I will receive good things from the Lord in return. My diligence, obedience and faithfulness to service yields promotion and financial increase.

As an employer, my business is built by righteousness, integrity and truth. I do not defraud, rob, withhold wages or other benefits from those who labor and help my business. I am a faithful servant over the small things, the greater things and even those things that belong to others. So when you come Lord, you shall find me faithful and I will be counted blessed and ruler over what you commit to me. My achievements and accomplishments are results of words and deeds all done in the name of the Lord Jesus. I give thanks to God and the Father in and by Jesus Christ. I am not weary in well doing because I reap in my due season and I do not faint. I do not faint in adversity, challenge, hindrance or necessities. I believe on you Lord and enter into your rest because my destiny and desire is to do your will, to finish what you have set before me and glorify you. A desire accomplished is sweet to my soul.

Affirmations for: Strength

STRENGTH
Psalm 118:14 -- The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

Lord you are my strength and power and you make my way perfect. Your great grace is sufficient for me and your strength is perfected in my weaknesses, infirmities, in reproaches, necessities, in persecutions and in distresses. For every instance of weakness you make me strong. I declare that you are my salvation and my God and I prepare a dwelling place in my heart and exalt you. You are faithful to give me the victory through my Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore I am strong and my hands are not weak, so my work is rewarded. Your wisdom makes me strong and knowledge of you gives me increased strength. I do not fear nor am I dismayed because you are my God and you are with me. You strengthen me, help me and uphold me by your right hand of righteousness. I am quiet and have confidence, and rest in your presence because I am saved and strengthened.

Your word has kept me from falling and prevented my knees from growing feeble in my stand for your righteousness. When a net is laid out in secret to entangle and capture me, when I cry out, you are never far from me. You are my Lord and strength in the time of trouble and you hasten to help me. This is the salvation of the Lord. I am born of God so I overcome the cares of this world and my victory to overcome is through faith in you. Lord you are my strength and power and you make my way perfect. I am strong in the Lord and in the power of your might. You are my strength and my shield. I am blessed when my strength and my ways abide in you. My heart does trust in you and I am helped, so my heart greatly rejoice with songs of praise to you. I am blessed when I abide within the gates that you strengthen and the hedges you thicken around me. I do not stagger at your promises through doubt and unbelief. I am strong in faith, declaring your glory. You are well able to perform every promise in your covenant because I am fully persuaded in your truth. You are the God of Israel who gives strength and power to his people. Blessed be God.

Affirmations for: Bearing Fruit of the Spirit

From the book: Talk to God with Affirmations of Faith
Copyright: August 1, 2011

BEARING FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

Ephesians 4:23-24 --

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Thank you Lord that I have been given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. I am able to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Now that I belong to you, I die daily and crucify my flesh to follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness. You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. I seek your knowledge so that temperance is added to my life and I am able to put off former conversations that reflect the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful lusts. My mouth speaks the truth in love. I give no place to the devil by yielding to a hasty spirit of lying. Anger, wrath or corrupt conversation of evil speaking, bitterness and malice is far from me. I am a prisoner of the Lord and you have called me to a holy vocation of walking in meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love. I am patient in spirit, speaking those things that are edifying and ministers grace to the hearer. I will not grieve the Holy Spirit wherein I have been sealed until the day of redemption. With kindness, I am tenderhearted and forgiving because you have forgiven me and did not leave me to my own destructions. May I always be found as good ground, honest, and with a good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Your covenant is with me for life and peace which passes all understanding and guards my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. As I rule my spirit I am counted mightier than he that takes a city. My rest is in the Lord and I wait patiently for you because I will not be cutoff and I shall inherit the earth. I love your law, precepts and commandments to obtain great peace and nothing offends me. I put on the Lord Jesus Christ as my covering so no provision is made to fulfill the lust of the flesh. Your kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. I give all diligence to add faith, virtue and knowledge to my life so that the old man is crucified with Jesus Christ and the body of sin might be destroyed, and I should not be a servant to sin.

Affirmation for: Walking in Obedience

From the book: Talk to God with Affirmations of Faith
Copyright: August 1, 2011

WALKING IN OBEDIENCE

Genesis 22:18 -- And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

My Lord and Father keeping your law, precepts and commandments are not hard or burdensome because my heart is full of love for you. By the enabling power of your Holy Spirit, I daily purify my soul by obeying your truth and loving my brethren without condition or pretense. When I obey your word my mind is renewed so I can keep my thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ. I know that when I hear and obey your voice I receive blessings that shall come on me and overtake me. I am willing and obedient and I eat the good of the land. My reasonable service is to reverence you, love you with my heart, mind and spirit, walk in your ways, serve you with joy and gladness and treasure your law as my necessary food. Therefore daily, I present myself as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to you Lord as I obey your word.

Affirmation for: THE INNER LIFE

From the book: Talk to God with Affirmations of Faith
Copyright: August 1, 2011

The Inner Life

3John 1:2 -- Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Father I present my body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to you, which is my reasonable service. I am not conformed to this world, and I hold fast to the truth of your word that transforms and renews my mind. My lifestyle is the evidence that your word is working effectually in me. I am able to prove the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. I am found a faithful steward over your word, steadfast, unmoveable and always abounding in the work of the Lord. All of my labor, what I do in word or deed, is done in your name Lord Jesus, so my labor is not in vain.

Thank you for helping me to bear the burdens of others and to love others as you have loved me. I am counted in your eyesight as one who, out of the good treasures of my heart, brings forth that which is good. Out of the abundance of my heart my mouth speaks the law of kindness, grace, comfort, edification and exhortation to others. My companions are those who are wise because destruction waits for those who walk with fools. When I rest I have your peace and sweet sleep and I dwell in the safety of your presence. My ears are attentive to your voice and you speak peace to your people and your saints and I am kept from turning again to folly. You are the God of patience and consolation and I am like-minded toward others according to Christ Jesus. With one mind and one mouth I glorify God, even the Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I receive others as Christ received me to the the glory of God.
